RF Engineer

Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina

Job Summary: We are looking for an RF Engineer proficient in designing, testing, and troubleshooting microelectronic circuits and RF systems. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to integrate quantum hardware and software components, particularly in projects involving RF control and waveguide development in RF resonant cavities, which involves quantum readout. This role is ideal for an engineer with a solid understanding of RF principles and a passion for hands-on experimentation and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Circuit Design & Testing:

    • Design, simulate, and test RF and microelectronic circuits. Capable of using some design software programs such as KiCad, Eagle, Altium.

    • Develop and execute test plans for evaluating circuit performance, including signal integrity, noise, and interference analysis.

  • RF System Development:

    • Contribute to the design and development of RF resonant cavities and associated waveguide systems. Use software such as Ansys HFSS to simulate high-frequency RF circuits.

    • Collaborate on integrating RF components into larger system architectures.

  • Hardware-Software Integration:

    • Work closely with software and FPGA teams to ensure seamless integration of interface electronics.

    • Troubleshoot and debug hardware-software interactions, ensuring optimal system performance.

  • Collaboration & Communication:

    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support research and development initiatives.

    • Document designs, test procedures, and results for internal review and regulatory compliance.

    • Present findings and updates clearly to both technical and non-technical team members.

  • Education

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field.

    • Equivalent relevant industry experience will be considered.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong background in designing and testing microelectronic circuits, especially for RF applications.

    • Solid understanding of RF principles, including the development and use of waveguides in RF resonant cavities.

    • Familiarity with Quantum Readout with RF Reflectometry.

    • Experience with hardware-software integration, including interface electronics and FPGA-based systems.

    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C/C++.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

    • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
